As ever, UK residents can watch the racing action, including two days of practice races and qualifiers, live on Sky Sports across the 3 March and 4 March, as well as the Sunday race. Those outside the UK can stream the Bahrain Grand Prix and every other race on F1’s official streaming service, F1 TV Pro, which is available in several regions worldwide for different monthly subscription prices. Likewise, US Formula One fans can watch each race via ESPN and ESPN2 via streaming packages like Hulu with ESPN+.

The Bahrain Grand Prix is not quite here, so feel free to dive into all the pre-season news and views down below – including the confirmed 2023 schedule and driving teams.

Formula 1 is almost here. Finally, I hear you sigh – I know, it’s been a long Winter without any burning rubber. Even before the real race action begins, you can whet your appetite with the official F1 pre-season testing. Between 23 and 25 February drivers is taking place at the same venue where the opening Grand Prix will be held: Bahrain. Essentially, teams use the three days of practice to get up to speed and test a range of fresh parts and tactics, as well as test programmes for tyre type and fuel load/usage to work out what best suits their new car. In theory, the amount of track time is unlimited so there could be a lot of juicy F1 content to sink your teeth into. Here are the timings so you don’t miss a minute of it:

  • Thursday 23 February: 7am-4:30pm GMT (10am-7.30pm local time)
  • Friday 24 February: 7am-4:30pm GMT (10am-7.30pm local time)
  • Saturday 25 February: 7am-4:30pm GMT (10am-7.30pm local time)

The latest news is that Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll is set to miss the pre-season event following a “minor” injury, though he is expected to return fairly promptly for the racing action a week later in early March. The rest of the driving roster is expected to attend all the practice sessions.

If you’re unaware of the off-season happenings in F1, you might want to take a look at the new team lineups for 2023. To recap, Sebastian Vettel’s retirement sparked Fernando Alonso to fill his boots at Aston Martin. Alpine opted to replace him with Pierre Gasly, previously of AlphaTauri who set its sights on Formula E champion Nyck de Vries. Elsewhere, Oscar Piastri made his way to McLaren after a long saga that saw Daniel Ricciardo cast aside, while Williams let Nicholas Latifi go for rookie Logan Sargeant. The only other change saw Haas replace Mick Schumacher with F1 regular Nico Hulkenberg.

So, a lot has changed ahead of the new season. To make sure you’re prepared to watch the season with the correct streaming packages, no matter where you are, as well as taking a look at the F1 schedule, read below for more information.

How to watch F1 2023 in the UK: Sky Sports and Sky Sports F1

Until at least 2024, Sky is the exclusive rights holder for live F1 coverage in the UK. That means the only way to watch F1 races in 2023 is to get Sky Sports.

To do so, you’ll need to add the dedicated Sky Sports F1 channel to your TV package as part of Sky’s Complete Sky Sports package. This requires you to have its basic Sky Entertainment and Netflix package first of all. This currently costs £24/mth and includes the best of Sky TV and Netflix on compatible devices and ties you to an 18-month contract. Alternatively, you can also get a 31-day rolling package for £27/mth.

Once you have this, you can add Sky Sports F1 to your TV: the official UK broadcaster of every F1 race in the 2023 season. It comes as part of a general Sky ports package that includes eight Sky Sports channels all in HD, meaning you’ll be able to watch marquee matches from the Premier League, EFL, Scottish Premiership, golf majors, NFL, NBA, live international cricket, franchise cricket tournaments like the IPL, and more. This will cost £27/mth on a rolling 31-day contract but the better value pick is the 18-month deal currently priced at £20/mth.

How to watch F1 2023 in the US: ESPN

  • Hulu: Package deal for Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ costs $12/mth or $20/mth (without ads on Disney+ and Hulu)

WHAT IS IPTV ?

IPTV is a lot cheaper than traditional cable and satellite networks. Unlike the traditional networks where you need a cable connection and a dish to stream live TV channels, with IPTV, you only need an internet connection, and you can stream live TV channels, VOD, PPV, and more from anywhere.

Although IPTV content delivery differs from online video-sharing platforms like YouTube or OTT services like Netflix, it shares many of their conveniences. For instance, IPTV allows users to access video on demand (VOD) content on a subscription-based model and watch live broadcasts. That gives viewers the freedom of accessing their favorite shows at will while still having the option of enjoying live events and programs like on traditional TV.

This flexibility is why IPTV outshines traditional television and is considered the future of TV.
